The Teeth in a Day Procedure
Teeth In A Day is a procedure where a person with no teeth can have dental implants and a bridge placed in one day.
The bridge is a temporary bridge used for several months until the implants heal and a new permanent bridge is then made. (originally the company that invented this procedure intended it to be a permanent – but had many failures and has scaled this back).
You may have seen this under such names as “Teeth in a Day”, “Teeth Now” “no dentures” or “Teeth Today”.
Benefits of Teeth in a Day
You get your permanent (the teeth do not come out) teeth right away instead of waiting with a denture for 3 to 6 months or more.
You also benefit from:
- Faster healing with the implant surgery and implant placement is more precise than if the dentist did it by hand.
- Eliminates the need for a denture
- Eliminates loose fitting, sore and painful dentures.
- Enables them to return home on the day of surgery with teeth that look aesthetically pleasing and function normally.
- Reduces the number of follow-up procedures and return visits.
- Provides a fixed denture that may result in an overall increase in personal confidence and well being.
Problems of Teeth in a Day:
This type of treatment is much more expensive than the “old fashioned” way of placing implants, wearing a removable plate (complete denture) and waiting until the implants are ready for the new teeth.
If it is not done absolutely correctly, the implants may fail or the new teeth may not fit and there may be a significant delay in getting the teeth. There is a slightly higher incidence of implant failure in these cases.
