Voted as one of Texas’ Super Dentists
Houston dentist Dr. Jonathan Penchas was born in Jerusalem, Israel. His family has been in Israel for three generations and was originally from Berlin, Germany. His parents currently reside in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
Dr. Penchas’ education was obtained throughout the world. He attended schools in London, Jerusalem, Boston, Louisiana and Texas. He attended dental school at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel where he received his D.M.D. degree. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was awarded the Student Award for Excellence in restorative dentistry.
He completed his specialty in Prosthodontics, the field of dentistry that deals with artificial dental appliances, at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. During the same time, Dr. Penchas earned his Masters degree in Education at The University of New Orleans.
In Houston, Texas he then completed a fellowship in Dental Oncology (cancer dentistry), and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Penchas served as a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Texas in 1995 through 1996. He currently continues to teach part-time and is a WREB (Western Regional Examining Board) dental program examiner.
Dr. Penchas published his first article in the Journal Of Dentistry For Children during his senior year in dental school. He has since continued to publish articles and routinely participates in giving seminars to dentists, technicians and the general public.
Dr. Penchas’ hobbies include spending time with his family, traveling, beekeeping and scuba diving.
