Remember: It takes time for you to adjust to your new dentures.  For success, you need to keep your dentures in your mouth as long as possible for the first few weeks.

Like fitting a new shoe or boot, your mouth will adjust to your new dentures.

  1. With any area in your mouth that are sore – be sure to report them to your dentist.
  2. Once fitted with your dentures, visit your dentist within 48-72 hours.
  3. A week or two after your fitting, you will need to get another adjustment by your dentist.
  4. Never make your adjustments or repairs at home, even if you are handy with tools.
  5. Your dentures will not have the same chewing abilities of your natural teeth
  6. You may have new sensations and more saliva – which will subside.
  7. It is normal to have a few sore spots in your mouth when you first get your dentures.
  8. Biting your tongue or cheek at first is normal.
  9. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions from your dentist
  10. Any problems with your dentures are sure to contact your dentist immediately.
